The Dual Board is used to help children grasp the 10 system, place value. When the 10 groove is filled with cubes, the row of 10 cubes becomes a single 10-block which is recorded in the 10’s section to the left of the unit groove.Children can readily grasp the concept of carrying and borrowing with the Dual Board. In addition, some aspects of multiplication can readily be demonstrated using this manipulative. Dual board is sold without blocks although its use requires ten 10-blocks and twenty 1-blocks.
